| David Letterman Admits Affair, Faced Extortion Plot Posted: 01 Oct 2009 08:22 PM PDT  David Letterman admitted on Thursday that he had sexual relations with female members of his staff and was the victim of a $2 million extortion attempt because of it. Here’s what the 62-year-old star said on Thursday’s Late Show: On giving a testimony: “This morning, I did something I’ve never done in my life. I had to go downtown and testify before a grand jury.” On admitting to engaging in sexual relationships with staff members: “My response to that is, yes I have. Would it be embarrassing if it were made public? Perhaps it would.” On why he testified: “I feel like I need to protect these people – I need to certainly protect my family.” With the help of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Special Prosecution Bureau, Letterman participated in a sting operation that included David handing a counterfeit $2 million check to the extortionist, who was arrested on Thursday. Letterman married longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko in March (they’ve been dating since 1986). They have a son, Harry, who turns 6 next month. UPDATE: Robert Halderman, a producer for CBS, has been arrested for extorting Letterman. Radar reports he lived with the woman who Letterman was involved with. The affair happened before his son was born but Letterman was living with his wife-to-be at the time. |

On Tuesday, the 36-year-old actor was on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. He recited the lyrics to Lady Gaga’s hit song “Poker Face” as if he was at a poetry reading. | Kanye West & Lady Gaga’s Tour Canceled — Fame Kills! Posted: 01 Oct 2009 04:20 PM PDT  Kanye West and Lady Gaga’s “Fame Kills” tour has been canceled, according to the Associated Press. The tour, scheduled to kick off next month in Phoenix, Ariz., was canceled earlier Thursday (October 1). Those who have already purchased concert tickets will receive refunds. The bad news comes on the heels of Kanye receiving negative press for ruining Taylor Swift’s VMAs win. Lady Gaga recently spoke to Canadian Press about the situation. She said, “But at the end of the day, [Kanye] is a pioneer in hip-hop music, and he changed what hip-hop music means. And I think that it's time for everyone to kind of take their heads out of the newspapers and remember that, in truth, Kanye’s making most of the music we hear on the radio today.” Kanye, I’ma let you finish! |

This morning started with an ILM meeting for five hours in San Francisco. Currently I’m flying with writer Ehren Kruger to Rhode Island to talk to Hasbro about new characters.” Bay continued, “P.S. Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture. Here’s what the 51-year-old Material Mom had to say while being flirted with by Seacrest: On 34-year-old Ryan Seacrest being a suitor for her: “Honey, you’re kind of old for me (laughs).” On how young she likes her guys: “You have to be old enough to dress yourself… Younger people are generally more adventurous - they’re more open, more fun - have you met many guys my age? Guys my age are married or divorced or grumpy, fat and balding.” On her self-image: “My body is part of my job. If I’m not in good shape, then how can I dance around on stage with my butt hanging out, right? I look in the mirror and go ‘hmm-mm. The sign reads: “Notice: No film crew or production staff from TLC is permitted on this property under penelty of trespass Johnathon Gosselin”. (The misspellings and grammar mistakes are all included!) Mama Kate Gosselin is speaking out against her estranged husband: “I’m saddened and confused by Jon’s public media statements. Jon has never expressed any concerns to me about our children being involved in the show and, in fact, is on the record as saying he believes the show benefits our children and was taping on Friday with the kids.” The 34-year-old reality TV mom continued, “I check in regularly with each of the kids to be sure they want to participate in and continue with the show and will continue to do so. I do the show for my family because I believe it provides us opportunities we wouldn’t otherwise have. Jon used to share that belief until as recently as the day the network announced the name change of the show and indicated that Jon would have a lesser role in the show. It appears that Jon’s priority is Jon and his interests. | Padma Lakshmi is Pregnant, Top Chef Gods Rejoice Posted: 01 Oct 2009 10:19 AM PDT  Padma Lakshmi is pregnant with her first child, her rep confirms to JustJared.com. “Model, author, and Emmy-nominated Padma Lakshmi confirms that she is carrying her first child after years of struggling with endometriosis, a cause for which she has co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America,” her rep says of the 39-year-old Top Chef host. “As a result of her condition, this pregnancy has been referred to by her physician as nothing short of a medical miracle, and due to its delicate nature, we ask/implore the press to respect Ms. Lakshmi’s privacy at this time.” Padma has been seen holding hands with Manu Nathan, but he is just her cousin, her rep tells us. She was married to novelist Salman Rushdie from 2004 to 2007. Pictured here in purple is Padma at last week’s 2009 Emmy Awards. Other pictures include Padma and Manu at a movie screening last month. Padma recently signed a development deal with NBC and Universal Media Studios to develop a half-hour sitcom that she would headline.

| TLC: Jon Gosselin is Self-Destructive, Unprofessional and Opportunistic Posted: 01 Oct 2009 09:19 AM PDT  Jon Gosselin’s legal team has been telling TLC lawyers that he “unequivocally believes that his children’s continued participation in your client’s television production is ‘detrimental‘ to his children. Accordingly, Jon expects that your client will cease and desist from any and all further production which includes his eight children.” TLC is firing back with their own lawyers in a statement obtained by JustJared.com: “We are aware of Jon Gosselin’s recent statements, and remain deeply disappointed at his continued erratic behavior. He and the family were shooting as recently as last Friday, without incident, and his latest comments are grossly inaccurate, without merit and are clearly opportunistic. Despite Jon Gosselin’s repeated self destructive and unprofessional actions, he remains under an exclusive contract with TLC. Direct filming of the children has been currently suspended, pending further conversations between both parents.” And the claws are out, people!! |

| Jon Gosselin: ‘Kate Plus 8′ Is Going Down! Posted: 01 Oct 2009 08:22 AM PDT  After news hit that TLC retitled Jon & Kate Plus 8, Jon Gosselin has been trying to shut down production on the show by not allowing his children to be videotaped. His attorney fired off a letter to TLC, saying, “Effective immediately, no production crews are to enter Jon’s family home for any reason. In the event that anyone enters the marital property, Jon Gosselin will notify the local authorities to effectuate police action against any trespassers.’ ” The Insider reports, “Jon found out about the name change the same way we all did — through The Associated Press. He and his attorney assert to ‘The Insider’ they’ve been in discussions to pull the plug on the program and take the kids off the show for weeks prior to (Tuesday’s) announcement.” What a mess and a half! TELL JJ: Now that Jon isn’t part of the show anyone, do you think he has the right to shut down production on Kate Plus 8? |

| Kristen Bell is ‘Couples Retreat’ Radiant Posted: 01 Oct 2009 06:50 AM PDT  Kristen Bell is pretty in Preen at the premiere of her new movie Couples Retreat at the Event Cinemas George Street on Thursday (October 1) in Sydney, Australia. The 29-year-old Forgetting Sarah Marshall actress, who finished off her look with Jimmy Choo “Glenys” Sandals, went to Bora Bora to film the romantic comedy and made sure she had some snacks to bring along. “I do travel with a lot of snacks,” Kristen told People. “I was concerned about the food in Bora Bora, and so I packed a lot … I like knowing what I’m eating. I don’t like mystery dishes.” She stockpiled Power Bars, butterscotch pudding, and granola bars for the trip and even shared with her costars Jason Bateman, Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Faizon Love, Kristin Davis, and Malin Akerman.
