| Broadway’s Ashley Brown Interview — EXCLUSIVE Posted: 14 Jan 2010 03:59 PM PST  Ashley Brown originated the Broadway role of Mary Poppins and now stars in the North American tour of the show. Now she’s making her solo record debut with her jazz alum, Speak Low, on sale now! Here’s what the 27-year-old singer and actress exclusively shared with JustJared.com: JJ: What is your favorite prop on the set of Mary Poppins? AB: I would have to say my parrot head umbrella. It is with me at all times and a massive one opens up at the end of act 2. It’s Mary’s most iconic prop along with her carpet bag. I’m going to find it hard to ever walk on stage without it! JJ: You have famous people (and their kids) watching you all of the AB: When Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes came with Suri. They were so generous with their time and so complimentary. They stayed and took pictures and answered questions and just couldn’t quit gushing about our show. Also, when we walked in the theater the next day, they had sent us 5 dozen of Crumbs cupcakes and a beautiful arrangement of red roses with a very nice note. JJ: When did the album process start for you? How long did it take to finish? AB: I started recording the album October of 2008 when I finished my run with Mary Poppins on Broadway. It was actually a very quick process. It took us a couple of months to pick my material and then we went in the studio for only 3 weeks. I recorded my vocals along with my musicians. Then the last week I went in and did some vocal fixes. I wanted to have a real natural sound, like you are in the room with me. Then it took months and months to pick photos, fonts, layout etc. This process is very time consuming and was such a learning experience for me. I loved every minute of it. JJ: How would you describe your sound? AB: I wanted this CD to show a different side of my voice. In Mary Poppins, because of the material, I have to sing very classically and contained. I have always loved jazz and sultry music. So this is finally my time to show that warm part of my voice. JJ: How did the album title, Speak Low, come about? AB: We weren’t sure if we should just make my first album self titled or if something would come to us. One of my songs is named “Speak Low,” but we also thought it really described the whole CD. As I said before, it’s a whole new sound that people haven’t heard me do before. People have only heard me sing Broadway, which I love singing, but this is a whole new sound that I loved exploring. |

The 28-year-old entertainer told USA Today that she’s excited to make kids think about business and the fashion industry. “It can teach young girls a sense of business and of responsibility,” B said. “You have to be a good listener and pay attention to what the customers want. It also teaches you about fashion, using terms that fashion people use, like ‘asymmetrical.’ ” Style Savvy allows multiplayer gaming, too, and while B said she played with her friends, “they told me I still have a long way to go,” she laughed. “So I guess I have to keep working at it.” |

| Kellan Lutz: Hockey Game Conflict Explained Posted: 14 Jan 2010 12:59 PM PST  Kellan Lutz suits up in another sleek Calvin Klein ensemble at the Netflix premiere screening of Before I Forget at the Writers Guild Theater on Wednesday (January 13) in Beverly Hills, Calif. Josh Morin, CEO of the Peoria Rivermen hockey team, recently put the 24-year-old Twilight actor on blast for backing out twice on making an appearance at one of their games in Peoria, IL. Kellan was committed to an October 23rd event, a JustJared.com source reveals, but his contract had a 30-day out (giving him up to 30 days prior to the event to cancel/reschedule). Production for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse kept getting pushed back and conflicted with that event, so Kellan's agents rescheduled for a date in January (also with a 30-day out clause). As for the second cancellation, Kellan was cast in a new film and the dates for that production conflicted with the rescheduled date in January. Seems like Kellan’s agent was well within the 30-day out! “Kellan was and is more than happy to come to Peoria,” the source reveals. “But the owner of the Riverman Hockey Team is the person who is saying no. Kellan even signed 100 autographs to send to the hockey team in time for the Jan. 23rd game.” Mr. Lutz is currently up for the role of Conan The Barbarian. |

| Tiger Woods Donates Supplies To Haiti? Posted: 14 Jan 2010 09:59 AM PST  Tiger Woods is donating a plane full of supplies to Haiti, according to hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons. This pledge would be in response to the devastation caused by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck on Tuesday (January 12). Russell said on his Twitter page, “Tiger Woods is doing something AMAZING!!!! I heard [he's] donating to send a cargo plane with a mobile hospital out there. Keep ur prayers high!” Reps for Tiger could not be reached for comment. |

| Posted: 14 Jan 2010 08:35 AM PST  With Avatar making over $1 billion at the box office, director James Cameron is thinking about how best to bring the Na’vi back to the big screen for the next installment. Sam Worthington has already signed on for the sequel, EW reports, and James is already dreaming up ideas for the second Avatar film. Here’s what he had to share with EW: On proving people wrong: “Let me put it this way. All of those naysayers, the nattering nabobs of negativity, the people who were saying that the movie looked bad before they had even seen anything – you have to learn to ignore them. That’s something that I learned on Titanic. But yeah, it’s satisfying that I was able to prove them all wrong.” On planning ahead for future movies: “I’ve had a story line in mind from the start – there are even scenes in Avatar that I kept in because they lead to the sequel. It just makes sense to think of it as a two-or-three-film arc, in terms of the business plan. The CG plants and trees and creatures and the musculoskeletal rigging of the main characters – that all takes an enormous amount of time to create. It’d be a waste not to use it again.” On what he did on opening weekend: “Some people treat opening weekends like Election Day. They stare at the computer screen and watch the numbers change.
