| Nick Zano Interview — JustJared.com Exclusive Posted: 27 Aug 2009 12:45 PM PDT  Former What I Like About You hunk Nick Zano plays the smartass in the upcoming horror flick The Final Destination, the fourth installment in the franchise and the first to be shot in HD 3-D. Here’s what the 31-year-old boyfriend of Haylie Duff told JustJared.com in an exclusive interview: JJ: Familar with JustJared.com? Do you even read blogs? NZ: Yes, actually. My family considers you an ally and Jenna Dewan loves reading your blog. JJ: Why thank you. Can you tell us how you got into the acting biz? NZ: I started acting at Wellington High School in West Palm Beach, Florida. My first real introduction was my TV production class. You know how you have morning announcements? Well we had that every Friday for ten minutes. One day, we decided we were going to be funny while saying all of the serious announcements. People started laughing and by the time I graduated high school we had fifteen minutes every Friday of just doing skits. That was my first introduction to an audience. There’s no one more honest than your fellow high school kids and we didn’t have much material back then. JJ: What was your first big break? NZ: It had to be MTV. I was a VJ and then became a news correspondent. Later on, I did a pilot for the WB. They offered me a “holding deal”. I did a pilot that didn’t get picked up and they were looking for a guy to reoccur for about five episodes on What I Like About You, and then that five turned into 13 and then the 13 became a series regular. That was pretty much the best thing that ever happened to me professionally as far as learning goes. JJ: Do you still keep in touch with your castmates Amanda [Bynes] or Jennie [Garth]? NZ: For sure! I also see Wesley Johnson on the regular, and I just had dinner with Leslie Grossman. (Click inside to rest the rest of JustJared.com’s interview with Nick Zano…) JJ: Let’s talk about Final Destination. I’ve never seen the second or third one, why would I want to see fourth? NZ: Simply, it’s double the budget, double the size, double the movie. It’s being shot on an HD 3-D camera, that was invented by James Cameron and it’s the first live action movie to be shot with it. The thing that makes it is hi-def 3-D in live action. It looked ridiculously good in playback before going into post-production. There are only 20 something guys that know how to operate this camera. So when the camera starts acting funny, everyone stops working. It was a slower process but it was definitely rewarding. Slower because it was the first movie filmed with this type of camer. Wwe were all on this giant learning curve. We spent a total of 17 days on the opening of the movie. JJ: What’s the coolest 3-D effect that you have seen from the footage so far? NZ: All of them involve deaths that I can’t talk about! Everyone dies in a glorious fashion. JJ: Is it gory? NZ: It’s gory and it’s action-packed. Our director David Ellis is huge stuntman. His company Brand X does the majority of stunts in movies and Dave is a big action director. So we used live race cars. Everything live and no green screen gave us a huge pay off. JJ: Best stunt that you filmed? NZ: Personally all my phobias were put aside for my own death. And I had to get right with myself because it was two full day shoots of personal hell for me. It took a lot of mental “every-thing’s cool, you’re safe, you’re not gonna die” mentality. JJ: What was it like filming in New Orleans? NZ: It was my second movie shooting there (the other was College, which was released last year). At that point, I could walk down the street and see people I know. It has a very interesting cycle. The Thursday afternoon crowd is all the business men that fly in for conferences and get piss drunk by Thursday afternoon. And you’ll see most fathers, grandfathers stumbling on the sidewalk at five in the afternoon getting it all out of their system. The cycle continues. Being an actor, you observe everything. JJ: What’s your character like in the movie? NZ: His name is Hunt, who is pretty much your “never take it seriously” frat guy who’s on his path of “me”. And he’s funny and obnoxious — a hybrid out of two people I know. Definitely a likable “d—”. JJ: Fave supernatural/thriller movie? NZ: Not a big supernatural or thriller guy, but I’ll tell you I’m very happy to be involved with the Final Destination movies, and very proud of what we accomplished. Be prepared for something that’s not being expected from the franchise. I got a check from Anne! Oh! I got a check from Anne! Yay!’” (Coley receives $3,700 per month in child support for their son.) On not being able to shake her ex: “He wants me to come and watch him run around in his little white shorts playing soccer. Honestly, I don’t want to come to rehearsal and watch you run around in your tight shorts like trying to pretend you know how to play soccer. I divorced you! "We have the same best friend, so it's hard to avoid each other." These days, Kiely won't date celebrities. "I need to be the center of attention!" jokes Kiely, who will celebrate her first anniversary with her current "not famous" boyfriend in October. | Chris Brown’s Larry King Interview Airs Next Week Posted: 27 Aug 2009 10:29 AM PDT  Chris Brown taped his sit-down interview with Larry King earlier this week in Los Angeles — his first interview since his February 8th arrest for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. His attorney Mark Geragos was present, as well as Chris’ mother Joyce Hawkins, who starts to cry during the interview (according to ET). Chris was sentenced to five years probation, which includes no contact with Rihanna. Chris‘ Larry King Live interview will air this Wednesday (September 2) @ 9PM ET on CNN. | Parker Posey Battling Lyme Disease Posted: 27 Aug 2009 09:59 AM PDT  Parker Posey has pulled out of an upcoming off-Broadway play after developing a case of of Lyme disease. The 40-year-old actress was set to play the lead role in the play This — about a poet who is a single mother. No replacement for Parker has been announced yet. Lyme disease is a treatable tick-borne illness that usually results in a rash but if left untreated, could cause severe and chronic symptoms affecting many parts of the body. Get well soon, Parker! |

NP: Well, I don't think you can really improve upon Carvel ice cream cake. JG: I'm more Baskin-Robbins style myself. NP: Oh really? I am so Carvel. Did I just bring us back to 1985 Long Island? JG: What song best describes your current state? NP: My current state . . . I'm trying to think of a song that feels like sleepwalking. [laughs] I don't know. I've mostly been listening to dirty rap lately. That's sort of my scene. JG: Your affection for dirty rap is something that people really don't know about you, which I think is fascinating. You do incredible things for the world, and then you listen to just completely obscene hip-hop music. NP: Really, really obscene hip-hop. I love it so much.
